The Voter Confidentiality Act 2002

An Official Act of the Government of the Great Commonwealth of the Ibrosian Democracy

Whereas the Ibrosian Democracy grande éhoi voting records and voting rights have always been open to public scrutiny and,

Whereas voters in the éhoi and Wéthenágemoté have always had to openly declare their votes in the House and,

Whereas the grande éhoi is not a Parliament in the sense that members are not elected to represent anyone

 

Therefore, be it enacted by Parliament, as follows--

 

Article I

The grande éhoi voting shall not be made publicly available, records merely showing the overall vote being ‘aye’ or ‘noe’.

 

Article II

Voters in the grande éhoi shall be henceforth able to vote in a secret ballot, within a cubicle if desired and for the results to be collected in a sealed box, alongside others, to be counted by the returning officer in a private location.

 

Article III

Being that voting over the internet is authorised, votes shall be sent exclusively to one email address, to be read only by the returning officer and to be considered confidential.

 

Article IV

Voting ballot papers and e-mails are to be destroyed or deleted as appropriate by the returning officer as soon as they are no longer necessary. 

 

Article V

Voting in the Wéthenágemoté shall remain subject to open public scrutiny
