The Ibrosian Standards Act An Official Act of the Government of the Great Commonwealth of the Ibrosian Democracy æcté d’wesetilk d’ŷe grande wealth d’commune dek Lk’esoeseak-Iboroseỗ The Twenty-Second day of December, Twenty-Hundred and Two
AN ACT to enter into law an official system of measures for the Great Commonwealth and to create the systems of Ibrosian Decimal Time and the Ibrosian International Calendar
Should it be enacted by the will of the majority of the people of the Great Commonwealth of the Ibrosian Democracy, this Bill shall be passed into law with the particulars stated herein: Section One – General Provisions
1. -(1) the Système International d'Unités (SI Metric Units) shall be the official system of measures throughout the Great Commonwealth, with the exception of time and date units. (2) metric units may be displayed alongside other weights and measures, with the metric form taking precedence. (3) No symbols identical to the metric symbols may be used within the Ibrosian Democracy.
2. -(1) the present metric organisation, the civilian Ibrosian Metric Institute shall become henceforth be funded by the Great Commonwealth. (2) the Ibrosian Metric Institute shall be under the control of the Office of Ibrosian Standards, within the Ministry of the Interior. (3) the Ibrosian Metric Institute shall be charged with informing the public of the standardisation process and bringing violators of this act to the attention of the High Court of the applicable province.
Section Two – Ibrosian Measures
1. - (1) the Great Commonwealth shall adopt a system or decimal time. (2) the various units of decimal time shall be found in Schedule Two of this act. (3) this system of decimal time shall be officially known as ‘Ibrosian Decimal Time’ (IDT).
2. - (1) the Great Commonwealth shall adopt a national calendar system, separate from the Georgian Calendar. (2) this calendar shall be perennial and is displayed in Schedule Three of this act. (3) this calendar shall be officially known as the ‘Ibrosian International Calendar’ (IIC) (4) This calendar shall style the present year ‘Year Three of the Enlightened Era’ (3 EE) and shall follow in an increasing pattern. Other dates shall be displayed thus: (a) 1 CE (AD) through 1998 CE (AD) shall be displayed simply as the Common Era (b) All dates before 1 CE shall be considered to be Before the Common Era (BCE).
3. - (1) All measure described in this Section are to be ascribed the legal rights as the metric units in Section 1. (2) ‘Improper Use of Official Symbols’ and ‘Improper Display of Weights and Measures’ as described in Section 2,1(2) and Section 2,1(3) are violations of this act and shall result, if proven by a provincial High Court, in the removal of any form of Great Commonwealth or provincial certification from the person or company involved.
Section Three – Short Title, Explanatory Notes, Commencement and Extent of this Act
(a) This Act may be cited as the Ibrosian Standards Act 2002. (b) This Act shall come into effect upon the passing by the éhoi and authorisation by the Returning Officer. (c) This Act shall be accompanied by the Explanatory Note as set forth in Schedule Two to this Act. (d) This Act extends to:
(a) The Great Commonwealth (b) All provinces of the Ibrosian Democracy
Schedule One - Explanatory Note
Ibrosian Standards Act 2002:-
Section one of this act establishes that Metric (SI) units shall be the official measures within the Great Commonwealth. It iterates that metric units must be displayed, alone or accompanying other units (such as Imperial measures). It also states that no person may misrepresent the metric measurement symbols, by using identical symbols for other purposes.
Furthermore, the Ibrosian Metric Institute is now to be publicly funded and co-ordinated by the Office of Ibrosian Standards, within the Ministry of the Interior.
Section two applies the Ibrosian Decimal Time system and Ibrosian International Calendar. It also indicates that, by the IIC, this is the third year of the Enlightened Era (3 EE).
