SELECT COMMITTEE ON EXTERNAL AFFAIRS

 

17th April 2002

 

By a majority vote of the House of the Senate, this body joins with all civilised peoples in the world in condemning the recent actions of the State of Israel. Having invaded Palestine and occupying both the West Bank and Gaza Strip, Israel has effectively declared war upon Palestine and the civilised world as a whole. 

The Great Commonwealth Senate now demands of Israel that the government should withdraw from the occupied territories. Tyranny against other states shall not be accepted by the nations of the world and should Israel wish to be considered a legitimate state, they should end their wave of violence against civilians.

The suicide bombings in the Israeli heartland present no justification for the invasion of a largely peaceful people and state. The State of Israel has clearly performed actions unbefitting of a civilised country.

This house recognises the right of the Palestinian Nation to self-determination based upon a vote of the democratic majority.
